Most women would agree that leggings are great for travel. They are comfortable, non-restricting and they don’t take up a lot of room in a suitcase.
But lately, there has been a lot of news about women getting kicked off of airplanes for wearing clothing that is too revealing. While people have different opinions about what side they are on, it is probably best for travelers to avoid being called out in a situation that can be upsetting and embarrassing.
Keeping that in mind, here are some do’s and don’t for wearing leggings while traveling.
Don’t:
Wear Anything Too Revealing:
Leggings are often made of thin, stretchy materials. In some cases, the material is so thin that they can show right through to your undergarments…and more! Not only can this ruin the look of your outfit, it might also get you banned on an airplane!
Before taking the trip, try on your leggings in a mirror and determine whether they are too revealing. If they are, try wearing them with a longer shirt or a dress.
Do:
Make Sure Your Leggings are Clean:
Leggings are often worn as workout gear. If you had a workout the day before, and didn’t have time to wash your leggings, it’s probably not the best idea to wear them on a plane.
Smells can be quite noticeable in tight quarters and I don’t think anyone would want to be the cause of foul odors that result in fellow passengers requesting to change their seat…or land the plane!
Wear High Quality Materials and Pair with the Right Outfits:
Leggings that are made of high quality materials will be less likely to be see through, but even if you have double and triple checked your leggings to make sure they are not overly revealing, it is best to pair leggings with the right outfit.
Sure, everyone wants to be comfy and casual in an airplane but looking too casual can be problematic. Leggings are form fitting and airplanes make for tight quarters. To be blunt, no one wants your crotch in their face while you are getting up to use the bathroom or adjust luggage.
That’s why it’s always a good idea to wear long shirts or dresses over leggings, no matter what kind of coverage they provide.
With the holidays coming up, travel season is upon us. Do your best to find an outfit that you are comfortable in and that won’t offend the airline staff or fellow travelers. This way everyone can have a great trip!
